Disney+ + Discord
Shared Disney+ in a Discord call and your friends only hear the audio? That's Disney+'s copy protection, not your setup. Here's how Go Live works, the workaround people try, and the way to watch Disney+ together in full quality.
You can share Disney+ with Discord's Go Live screen share, but Disney+ protects its video with DRM, so viewers usually get a black screen with audio only. Turning off hardware acceleration in your browser and in Discord sometimes gets the picture through, at limited quality.
The dependable option is to skip screen sharing: everyone plays Disney+ from their own account, a watch party extension keeps playback in sync, and you keep talking in your Discord voice channel.
Option 1 · Screen share
Open the Discord desktop app and join a voice channel on your server (or start a call).
Start the title on disneyplus.com in Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
Click Share Your Screen in the voice panel, pick your browser window, choose the quality, then Go Live.
Viewers don't need Nitro to watch. The person sharing does for higher quality: on a free account, Discord streams top out at 720p and 30 fps (Discord Help Center).
Black screen?
Disney+ plays through a protected video path that screen capture can't read, so Discord sends black frames instead of the picture. The most common workaround is to turn hardware acceleration off, so the video is decoded in a way capture can see:
Be realistic about it: this doesn't work for everyone, it can stop working after a browser or Disney+ update, playback in your browser may get choppier, and the stream your friends see is still compressed by Discord and carried by your upload speed.
Option 2 · Sync instead of sharing
A free extension for Chrome, and for Safari on Mac.
Open Disney+, click the WatchNest icon, and paste the room link in your Discord chat.
Play, pause and seeks stay in sync for everyone. Use your Discord voice channel, or WatchNest's own chat and camera.
Free for 2 people. Up to 4 on paid plans.

FAQ
Disney+ protects its video with DRM, which blocks screen capture. When you share a Disney+ tab or window in Discord, viewers see a black screen and hear only the audio. It's copy protection working as designed, not a Discord bug.
Sometimes. Turning off graphics acceleration in your browser (and hardware acceleration in Discord) is the most common workaround, but results vary by browser and can stop working after an update. Quality is limited by Discord's stream settings either way.
Hulu now redirects into Disney+, so it behaves the same way: a shared window goes black because of DRM. Use the same hardware acceleration workaround, or sync each person's own playback with WatchNest and keep your Discord call.
Yes. With WatchNest, everyone plays Disney+ from their own account and playback stays in sync, while you keep talking in your Discord voice channel. Nobody captures the video, so there's no black screen.
With WatchNest, yes: each viewer plays Disney+ from their own subscription. It doesn't share or bypass subscriptions. WatchNest itself is free for two people.
